Hard Rock Cafe Prague
Prague's outpost of the worldwide Hard Rock brand is one of the most popular hangouts in the city. Tucked away behind the fresco-covered façade of the 19th-century VJ Rott House, it is just a five-minute walk from the focus of the night-time action in Old Town Square. As one of the largest branches of Hard Rock in Europe, it has two sleek bars in which to sample Czech pilsner beers or a couple of cocktails, plus three floors of restaurant selling the world-famous menu of steaks, salads and legendary burgers.
The ornate Art Nouveau interior of the restaurant contrasts neatly with Hard Rock's grungy displays of rock "˜n' memorabilia"”from Johnny Cash's embroidered Western-style shirt, a pair of Elvis's trousers and a tails coat worn on tour by Madonna, but these are all totally overshadowed by the huge, guitar-shaped chandelier hanging over the atrium. Prague's Hard Rock also offers live music on Thursday and Friday nights; a souvenir store selling logo-ed T-shirts, fluffy toys and biker jackets; and an outdoor terrace for enjoying summer-time evenings.

Hohenzollern Bridge (Hohenzollernbrücke)
The waters of the mighty Rhine split Cologne in half, and the city is united across a series of seven bridges, with none more splendid than the spans of the Hohenzollernbrücke, which stretch 1,342 feet (410 meters) across the river in three great steel arches.
This spectacular city landmark is almost as famous as Cologne's twin-spired Gothic cathedral "“ the largest in Europe "“ and was completed in 1911, with four railway lines joining Cologne to cities across Europe. German troops destroyed the bridge at the end of World War II in the face of advancing Allied soldiers but it rose phoenix-like once more in 1948. Today it is both a pedestrian and rail bridge with around 1,200 trains passing over it daily and pairs of equestrian bronzes punctuating both ends.
A curious tradition has recently grown up around the Hohenzollernbrücke; lovers affix padlocks to its sides and throw the key into the Rhine in exchange for eternal love. So far the city fathers believe over two tonnes of extra metal is now attached to the bridge.
Practical Info
For the best views of the Hohenzollernbrücke, take a River Rhine boat tour, available as a daytime hour-long trip or a romantic dinner cruise when the lights of the city sparkle off the water.

Hauptmarkt
The Hauptmarkt in Trier, Germany is the city's main square, and it is located near the Liebfrauenkirche and St. Peter's Cathedral. The square is marked by a stone cross that dates back to 958, although the one you see today is a replica as the original has been moved into the City Museum. This is the center of the city's commercial activity, and you will find an abundance of stores where you can go shopping as well as cafes and restaurants to grab a meal. Several pedestrian streets connect with the square, making it the perfect area to go for a stroll while exploring the history of the oldest city in Germany.
A statue of St. Peter forms part of the market fountain dating back to 1595. He is surrounded by the four cardinal virtues of Justice, Strength, Temperance, and Wisdom, as well as monsters and monkeys. On one side of the market is the entrance to the old Jewish quarter of the city. This square also played an important role in the struggle between the two churches during medieval times. In December you'll find Christmas markets set up in this square.

Het Grachtenhuis
Amsterdam's picturesque ring of canals is one of the city's most iconic sights and after the famous waterways achieved UNESCO World Heritage status back in 2010, a new museum sprung up to celebrate their rich history.
The Het Grachtenhuis, or the Canal House, opened its doors in 2011 and features a series of exhibitions devoted to the history of Amsterdam's 17th-century canals and the city development project behind them. The self-guided tours utilize audio guides and a series of interactive installations to provide a uniquely entertaining and engaging rundown of how the system was designed and built. 3D video projections, miniature city models, animations and galleries all help to bring the exhibition to life, making it a thoroughly modern museum experience.
The Canal House itself, perched on the banks of the Herengracht or "˜gentleman's canal', is just as impressive outside as it is from the inside. The mid-17th century stately townhouse was designed by Philips Vingboons and inhabited through the years by a number of prominent Dutch tradesmen, including millionaire Jan Willink (famous for his generous donation to the Americans during the War of Independence). Today, it's a designated national monument and has been restored to its former glory, with original floors and wall paintings, as well as an idyllic courtyard garden.

Helsinki Music Centre (Musiikkitalo)
Home to both the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Helsinki Music Centre (Musiikkitalo) is the Finnish capital's main concert hall. Sitting opposite Parliament House in the prestigious Töölönlahti district, the building and its copper facade may look gargantuan from the outside, but actually, most of its rooms are underground.
Home to the Sibelius Academy as well as Finland's national orchestras, the center was unveiled in 2011. With a modern and understated design, the center's unusual interior layout features weaving hallways, as well as a unique main hall, where up to 1,704 visitors are seated in a full circle around the orchestra.
Designed to sit in harmony with the stately buildings that surround it, the Helsinki Music Centre and its design have been well-received. This was not without controversial beginnings, however; to make space for the structure, an area of grassroots art spaces (that had been converted from derelict warehouses) had to be pulled down.
Practical Info
